A family of seven whose house was gutted by a fire Saturday began accepting donations this week to help get their lives back on track.
The fire on the 1700 block of Sommerfeld Avenue started in the kitchen about 2:45 p.m. and scorched the house, Central Fire spokesman Mike DeMars said. A resident said the oven malfunctioned and ignited cooking oil. The blaze spread through the kitchen.Darlene Gamble, 53, Live Oak, FL passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 after a long illness. The lifelong resident of Live Oak worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse for six years and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She is survived by her mother: Elizabeth Bass, Live Oak, Fl; two sons: Ricky & shae Gamble, Live Oak, Fl, Chad Gamble, Live Oak, Fl; two brothers: Drew & Renee Bass, Live Oak, Fl, Fletcher Bass, Jacksonville, Fl; two grandchildren: Dawson Gamble and Hannah Gamble. Grave side services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 17th at Macedonia Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating.
