Lottery Millionaire 2011PowerBall Winning Numbers:A 70-year-old Thibodaux man is the Louisiana Lottery's latest millionaire.Robert Thibodaux Sr. says he regularly buys $5 worth of tickets every Saturday — two Lotto tickets, two Powerball tickets and one Easy 5 ticket.
Along with a lot of people in New Jersey, over 430,000 residents in Connecticut still remain with no power days after last weekend's snowstorm. But one household just gained a whole lot of power last night, even though their home may yet be in the dark.
For the first time since Sept. 14, Powerball’s website reports that the game has a jackpot winner. One ticket was sold in Connecticut Wednesday night, for a jackpot of $254.2 million, or a lump sum cash payout of over $151 million. According to the Connecticut Post, the winner’s identity and the town where the ticket was purchased has yet to be released.
ABC News reports that 19 tickets matched the first five numbers without the Powerball, for a prize of $200,000. None of them were from New Jersey.
According to Lottery Post, the jackpot was the game’s largest in 18 months. One ticket from Paso Robles, California won the Mega Millions $78 million jackpot on Tuesday, and that jackpot prize returns to $12 million for Friday’s drawing. Also on Tuesday, a player in Philadelphia won $225,000 in the Pennsylvania Lottery's Cash 5 game. The winning ticket was purchased at the Adams Beer Distributor in Crescentville.
The winning numbers were:
12, 14, 34, 39, and 46, with Powerball number 36. The Power Play number was 4.
According to USA today, players have until April 30, 2012 to claim their prizes.
The Powerball jackpot will return to its starting point of $20 million on its next drawing Saturday Nov. 5, which is certainly not small change. But I still wish the winner from Connecticut needed best friends they hadn’t met yet.
