UFC on FOX results: Junior dos Santos had knee injury 10 days

The UFC’s debut on FOX was a short one, as it took just 64 seconds for Junior dos Santos to win the heavyweight title from Cain Velasquez.
clearpxlDos Santos won the heavyweight title with a first-round knockout of the champion on the first real punch landed in the fight.The two fighters spent most of the first minute circling and jabbing. Velasquez caught a dos Santos kick and tried to take him down, but the challenger slipped away.Velasquez then landed an overhand right that sent Velasquez down. Velasquez attempted to put dos Santos in guard, but the challenger avoided his legs and landed a two punch combination on the downed Velasquez.Velasquez rolled face down, and dos Santos landed nearly a dozen lefts before the referee stopped the fight.Dos Santos won his ninth straight and moved to 14-1. It was his ninth knockout. Velasquez suffered his first career loss after nine wins and lost his UFC Heavyweight title in his first defense. He won it from Brock Lesnar in October of last year.The fight marked the UFC’s first appearance on live network television, beginning their multi-year deal with FOX. The one-hour special featured the heavyweight title fight after more than a half-hour pre-game show. No other fights were aired.There were nine other fights that streamed on FoxSports.com. The Fight of the Night winner was Ben Henderson’s action-packed victory over Clay Guida in a decision. Scores were 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27 as both fighters tried for submissions in a back and forth battle.Henderson improved to 15-2 and earned a title shot against Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar that will be the main event of UFC’s Japan show next year. Guida fell to 29-12 but shared his fifth Fight of the Night bonus to go with two Submission of the Night honors.
