A source tells CBSSports.com's National NFL Insider Mike Freeman that Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is "done" for the season after suffering a foot injury in Houston's 37-9 victory over the Buccaneers Sunday. The source adds that "the team is devastated," and there's little chance Schaub would be available should the Texans make it to the Super Bowl. This past Friday before the Houston Texans took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I appeared on the Mighty Gwinn show in Houston, Texas. Earlier in the week the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had acquired defensive tackle, Albert Haynesworth off of waivers from the New England Patriots. Dylan Gwinn and I talked during the show about the relevance of Haynesworth and his past with Houston Texans’ QB Matt Schaub.
When Haynesworth was with the Titans he made it his mission to injure Schaub. He had a genuine dislike for Schaub. Twice in 2007 Albert’s Titans knocked Schaub out of games. He enjoyed it and bragged about it as well. Haynesworth had this to say after the injuries, “I think he’s scared of us,” said Haynsworth. He also said, “Maybe next year he won’t play against us, he’ll just sit that game out.” At the time, Haynesworth also caused a stir by saying that then backup, Sage Rosenfels was the better of the two quarterbacks and that he deserved Schaub’s contract. Well, Haynesworth has people talking about Schaub’s backup once again.During the show I told Dylan that I felt Haynesworth is finally back in his natural role. After short stays in Washington and New England, Fat Albert is back in the same system that he played at such a high level in Tennessee. On the show we discussed if Haynesworth could get back to his old form. I said that he wouldn’t be a Pro Bowl talent again but he could be a game changer. I also asked if Texans’ fans should be worried about the curse of Fat Albert. Was there anyone who was worried a Haynesworth ending Schaub’s season again. It was laughed off at the time but as we know now, Adam Schefter reported that Matt Schaub will be out for the season with lisfranc surgery.
